For 1997, the Metro is equipped with a folding rear seat and the 70 hp 1.3 liter engine is now standard on both LSi models. Also new this year are two new colors: Sunset Red Metallic and Azurite Blue Metallic. A convenience package is now available on both LSi models; package contents include dual manual remote exterior mirrors, passenger seatback pocket, remote hatchback/trunk release, cargo cover (on coupe models) and a split-folding rear seat (on sedan models). Side impact door beams and daytime running lights are standard. Options for all models include anti-lock brakes, CFC-free air conditioning, rear defroster, various radio upgrades and floor mats.
